The Lusty Fruit
-Dreah
Lost forever in the depths of Hades
stolen away to be a bride
never again will I see the Spring
wasting away like the trees of Winter
He speaks; “Persephone,
please partake of this Pomegranate.”
The fruit it tempts me, that red pomegranate.
I see the lust deep within the eyes of Hades
again he whispers my name; “Persephone,
my sweet and delicate little flower bride,
please eat; you are wasting away, like the trees of Winter.”
Refusing the fruit I beg for freedom for Spring.
Oh mother, oh mother please let me spring
out of this place away from his evil pomegranate
I’d rather waste away such as the Winter
then ever except the lust of Hades!
I wish not to be his little bride.
I am your daughter, your little Persephone!
He hisses taking hold of my arm; “Persephone
do not be so harsh. What good is Spring?
Hush now my little bride
and eat, eat of this pomegranate
for I am the lord, your Hades
and this time together is our Winter.”
Slipping out of his grip like the dead tree of Winter
weeping I can hear my mother now, “Oh Persephone
my darling, stolen away by the dreaded Hades!
I’ll find you yet, while I search I’ll end this Spring!
Beware of his ways, he’ll tempt you, that fruit, a pomegranate.
If you take it forever will you be his bride.”
I rot away to become a corpse bride
wasting away like the land in Winter,
longing to taste those seeds from that pomegranate
my eyes lusting for a taste I hear; “Persephone
I am here to bring you back, along with Spring.”
Reaching out I take hold of the hand of Hades
Again an offer given by Hades
He gives me freedom to Spring
If only I eat of that Pomegranate…
